31 Days to An Awesome Facebook Page

Most people who know me know that a lot of the services I offer for social media center around management. Management is an incredibly rewarding service that benefits both me and the business owner. They don’t have to worry about content, and I get to do what I know how to do. Sometimes, though, a company has someone who already produces content for their social media sites. This person may do an okay job. But this person may also be missing out on some ways they can improve their Facebook Page.

One of my goals this year was to offer more “training” based services and products. I’ve been doing more 1-on-1 training lately, and this has been a lot of fun. However, every time I do one of these 1-on-1 training sessions, I find myself repeating the same things over and over again. For the most part, it’s because the people I train are just getting started with Facebook and don’t know what they can do with a Facebook Page.

Now, my training sessions cost $75/hour. That’s a pretty standard rate. However, some businesses cannot afford to pay that rate. I understand that. I’ve also been in a position where paying a rate like that would immediately turn me off. So I wondered if I could find a way to offer a cheaper form of training to help even more businesses harness the power of their Facebook Pages.

I have always wanted to do a more “formal” training course, but I intended for it to cover several weeks and be hosted online. This, however, is a huge undertaking. Right now, the time I have is fairly limited, so I needed another solution.

Sometime last year, that solution started to form in my head as “ebooks.” I could take the content that I meant to produce as a large online class, break it down into smaller portions, and sell them as ebooks and guides.

Now, as some of you know, I was not as productive last year as I wanted to be. I did, however, manage to start outlining an idea: 31 Days to An Awesome Facebook Page. My original notes show that I wanted it to be an email-based program. But, I know from experience that these types of email courses are not followed as they should be. I know because I’ve taken several of them myself. When I reviewed my notes, I realized that they would be much better suited to an ebook. I do plan on offering a “companion newsletter” along with it, but I feel like it will be much better received as an ebook.

For the past month, I’ve been working on the ebook in my spare time. It’s starting to really come together, but I’m finding that my original plans were a little skewed. You see, the original plan of having “1 Action Per Day” means that some of the content I meant to include will be discarded (or, more probably, moved to another ebook).

One of the content pieces I’m considering moving to another ebook is the section on custom Facebook tabs. I would love to include this in the “31 Days” ebook. After all, custom tabs are a great way to get more out of your Facebook Page. There is so much that I could say on the subject of custom Facebook tabs, that I might be better off writing a whole book about them!

But I digress. The purpose of this blog post was to talk about the content that will actually make it into the ebook. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’m looking to cover with the “31 Days to an Awesome Facebook Page” ebook:

  • Optimizing Your Facebook Page for Search Engines
  • Optimizing Your Facebook Page for Your Brand
  • Optimizing Your Facebook Page Content (or alternately) Optimizing Your Facebook Page for Engagement
  • Optimizing Your Facebook Page Based On Your Statistics (i.e. what works and what doesn’t)
  • Promoting Your Facebook Page
  • Using Your Facebook Page for Sales
  • Keeping the Rhythm Going (what to do after the 31 days)

That’s quite a bit of content. I could almost write a whole book on each subject. EventuallyI might. The purpose of the “31 Days” book, though, is to give people a boost or a running start to making their Facebook Page the best it can be in a month.

So my question to you, faithful readers, is: What do you want included? What specific questions do you have that you want answered about how to make your Facebook Pages better?
